OMG I won an award! Golden Boots Award

I won the‘s Golden Boots Blogger award for September 2014! The award is given to bloggers who are active outdoors enthusiasts who share fantastic adventures and quality content to their readers, which is a giant ego boost and its lovely to think that people enjoy what I’ve been putting out there.

I have been doing the happy Tau dance around the living room all day! Go check out Adam’s blog HikingTheTrail.comHiking the Trail and my good friend Scott’s blog, who I suspect had a part to play in all of this too. 😉

Thanks guys!!

Ubadion with his new roommate

Sorry about the interruption in River to River Trail posts. Ubadion just made his trip to China and is getting settled in for his freshman year at NYU Shanghai! We got caught up by all the last minute arrangements and logistics for his forthcoming adventures, and blogging took an unfortunate backseat. I will be back to regular posting tomorrow!

An Introduction

We have reached our middle aged status, and have found that physical activity is becoming an increasingly important part of our lives. We started with just short walks around the neighborhood, but quickly began branching out to area parks and got hooked.

Now we walk 3 or 5 miles daily and try to find mini adventures on the weekends. We have 2 kayaks, a Hennessy Hammock and are starting to build up our backpacking gear. We’re looking forward to some future backpacking trips and are goaling to hit the Appalachian Trail in 2019.

I just joined two hiking groups through MeetupThe Corn Desert Hiking and Adventure Group and The Peoria Backpackers Meetup Group. I’m really excited about connecting with other outdoor enthusiasts, and getting to know the area hiking/camping spots.

We hope to write regularly, share photos and start making some youtube videos. I hope this blog becomes a wonderful record of our journey. 🙂
